BACKGROUND:

With a childhood background of an abusive ritual practice, I experienced the emotional and spiritual abuse of being told "You are nothing, you are nothing" repeatedly. The constant threat of physical and sexual abuse created a foundation of fear. Fear was such a part of life, that I didn't realize I was always afraid.

In my workshop, I will help you begin to move from fear to faith, from fragmentation to wholeness. It doesn't happen in an evening, a day or a weekend, but I will provide an opportunity to explore beginning steps in a safe environment. I know that healing is possible.

FRIDAY NIGHT:

Reading excerpts from my memoir, I will share examples of how trauma and emotions embedded in our unconscious affect our daily lives.  I will share the trajectory of centering prayer meditation in my life. While I use God in my meditation practice, participants are free to use whatever source of love speaks to them. A spoken meditation will lead participants into a safe place for the silent meditation.

SATURDAY:   The description below is one possibility for a day-long workshop. It can be given without the Friday night program though a brief synopsis of my background would be given to start the day. I can also do a quiet day, full or half day and am available for talks or speeches.

In a space of safety and love, you will have an opportunity to get in touch with an emotion or experience stored in your unconscious.  Perhaps it will be an emotion that surfaces and gets pushed back, but with loving attention, can provide you with valuable insights into part of your life.  Brought to the light, there is opportunity for learning, healing and letting go.

We will focus an exercise on self-forgiveness.  Fr. Thomas Keating, a founder of centering prayer, says that time spent blaming and shaming ourselves stops us from doing what we have been placed on the planet to do.  From fear to forgiveness to the light of Divine love is the title of this exercise.  Music, one of my passions, will grace our time.  Art, nature, journaling, silence or a walk, your choice, will give you time for reflection and creativity. Laughter and joy will mix with grief and perhaps a few tears as we spend 5 1/2 hours together.  We will begin and end our day in silence in the presence of God's love.  You choose to give permission, to open to Her love and healing action.  Healing is a journey.  Begin or go deeper with others committed to the spiritual path.
